The Faculty of Arts (sometimes called Faculty of Humanities or Faculty of Arts and Humanities) covers the study of languages, literature, history, philosophy, religion, performing and creative arts, and the broader human cultural heritage. Departments typically include English Language and Literature, Linguistics, Foreign Languages (French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish), Nigerian Languages (Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, others), History, Philosophy, Religious Studies (Christian and Islamic), Theatre Arts, Music, Fine and Applied Arts, and Performing Arts. The faculty develops critical thinking, communication, cultural literacy and analytical skills foundational to many professions. Graduates serve as teachers, journalists, writers, editors, translators, religious leaders, cultural and creative industry professionals, public servants, diplomats, and academics.
