Kogi State Polytechnic (KOGIPOLY), located in Lokoja, Kogi State, is a state-owned polytechnic serving north-central Nigeria. The institution operates schools spanning engineering, applied sciences, business and management studies, environmental studies and general studies. KOGIPOLY serves the demand for technical and vocational education in Kogi State, complementing Prince Abubakar Audu University (formerly Kogi State University), Confluence University of Science and Technology, Federal University Lokoja, Federal Polytechnic Idah, Federal College of Education Okene in providing diversified tertiary education access for the state.
History
Kogi State Polytechnic was established by the Kogi State Government following the creation of Kogi State from parts of Kwara and Benue States in 1991. The Lokoja city location, in the Kogi State capital and the historic confluence of the Niger and Benue Rivers, was selected for accessibility and central position. The polytechnic admitted its first students with founding schools in engineering, applied sciences and business studies. Through subsequent decades the institution has expanded faculty offerings, building academic capacity for technical and vocational education in central Nigeria.

Kogi State Polytechnic operates from a campus in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital and historic confluence town. Lokoja sits at the historic confluence of the Niger and Benue Rivers and is connected by road to Abuja (about 2.5 hours north), Okene (1.5 hours south) and Ilorin (3 hours west). Air access is via Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja with daily international and domestic flights.
