Federal Polytechnic Ekowe

Federal Polytechnic Ekowe is a federal polytechnic located in Ekowe, Bayelsa State, in the Niger Delta region. History

Federal Polytechnic Ekowe was established by the Federal Government as part of the third-generation expansion of federal polytechnic provision in the 2000s. The Ekowe location, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, was selected to extend federal tertiary education access to riverine Bayelsa communities. The polytechnic admitted its first students with founding schools in engineering, applied sciences and business studies, configured to address Niger Delta development priorities. Through subsequent years the institution has continued to expand faculty offerings progressively, building academic capacity to address the technical education demand in the Niger Delta region.

Federal Polytechnic Ekowe considers candidates who meet the institutional JAMB cutoff and pass the Post-UTME screening. Direct Entry applicants must meet the entry requirements for their chosen course.

Federal Polytechnic Ekowe operates from a campus in Ekowe, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, southern Bayelsa State, in a riverine area characteristic of the Niger Delta. The campus features academic schools complexes, engineering workshops, the institution library, lecture theatres, hostels and administrative facilities. Ekowe is accessible by road and water from Yenagoa (about 2 hours by road or via the Bayelsa creek system). Air access is via Port Harcourt International Airport (about 4 hours by road) with daily flights to Lagos and Abuja.
