Cross River University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akampa (UNICROSS) is a state-owned university located in Akampa Local Government Area, Cross River State, in south-eastern Nigeria. The institution was established by the Cross River State Government as part of a restructuring of state higher education that converted the former Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) into two separate institutions. UNICROSS focuses on education and entrepreneurship disciplines, with faculties spanning education, social sciences, business and entrepreneurship, environmental sciences and arts. The institution serves Cross River State alongside the University of Cross River State (the renamed CRUTECH) which retains the technology focus.

History

Cross River University of Education and Entrepreneurship was established by the Cross River State Government under Governor Bassey Otu through a restructuring that separated the existing Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) into two institutions: the University of Cross River State (retaining the technology focus and Calabar main campus) and the new Cross River University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UNICROSS) absorbing the Akampa campus and education-focused programmes. The restructuring was intended to clarify institutional missions, expand graduate output and respond to the state\'s economic priorities around education quality and small business development. UNICROSS received NUC approval and commenced full operations in the mid-2020s.

Cross River University of Education and Entrepreneurship operates from the Akampa campus, in Akampa LGA, central Cross River State, which had previously functioned as a CRUTECH satellite campus. The campus hosts academic buildings, education faculty facilities, lecture halls, hostels and administrative buildings. Akampa is connected by road to Calabar (about 1.5 hours south) and Ikom (1 hour north), with onward connections to Ogoja (2 hours) and into Cameroon. Air access is via Margaret Ekpo International Airport Calabar with daily flights to Lagos and Abuja.
