History
Lagos State University of Science and Technology was established by the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu through the upgrading of Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) Ikorodu to full university status. LASPOTECH had been founded in 1977 as one of Nigeria\'s first state polytechnics and had built substantial reputation for technical education through nearly five decades of operation. The conversion to university status was part of national trends toward upgrading polytechnics with strong reputations and infrastructure. LASUST received NUC approval and commenced full degree programmes, retaining strong technology focus while adding university-level academic structures. The institution\'s establishment reflects Lagos State\'s strategy to expand state-funded technology education in response to the booming Lagos tech ecosystem.
