Student enrolment exceeds 14,000 across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The institution is recognised for programmes in engineering, computer science and applied sciences, and serves Kano State alongside Bayero University Kano (federal).
History
Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology was originally established in 2000 as Kano University of Science and Technology by the Kano State Government under Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as the state\'s second public university focused on science and technology disciplines complementing the federal Bayero University Kano. The Wudil location, about 40 km east of Kano city, was selected for available land and proximity to the Kano metropolitan economy. The university admitted its first students in 2001 with founding faculties in engineering and sciences. Through the 2000s and 2010s the institution expanded, adding faculties in agriculture, medical sciences and management. In 2024 the university was renamed Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology in recognition of major endowment and infrastructure contributions from the Aliko Dangote Foundation.
