Bamidele Olumilua University of Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) is a state-owned specialised university located in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, in south-western Nigeria. The institution was established in 2020 by the Ekiti State Government and named in honour of Chief Bamidele Olumilua, former Governor of Ondo State (1991-1993) and a prominent Ekiti politician. BOUESTI operates faculties in sciences, engineering and technology, environmental sciences, computing and informatics, agriculture and education. The university focuses on science and technology disciplines, complementing Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Ado-Ekiti which has a broader programmatic focus. BOUESTI serves the growing demand for science and technology graduates and supports Ekiti State\'s aspirations in agriculture, agro-processing and information technology.
History
Bamidele Olumilua University of Science and Technology was established in 2020 by the Ekiti State Government under Governor Kayode Fayemi, through the upgrading and absorption of the College of Education Ikere-Ekiti and the Bamidele Olumilua University precursor institution. The university was named in honour of Otunba Bamidele Olumilua, a respected Ekiti elder and former Governor of Ondo State (1991-1993, when Ekiti was still part of Ondo State). BOUESTI received NUC accreditation and admitted its first university students in 2021, building on existing infrastructure and academic capacity inherited from the College of Education. The institution\'s focus on science and technology reflects Ekiti State\'s strategy of differentiating its second university from the established EKSU.
