History
North Eastern University was established as a private university providing higher education access in north-eastern Nigeria, a region historically underserved by private university provision relative to southern Nigeria. The Gombe location was selected for the city\'s position as a major north-eastern commercial centre and available land. The institution received NUC approval and admitted its inaugural cohort with founding faculties configured to address tertiary education demand in north-eastern Nigeria. Through subsequent years the institution has continued to develop academic capacity and infrastructure, contributing to the expansion of private tertiary education provision in the region.
