Federal University of Health Science and Technology, Tsafe is a federal specialised medical and health sciences university located in Tsafe, Zamfara State, in north-western Nigeria. The institution focuses on medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing and allied health sciences education, with faculties spanning basic medical sciences, clinical sciences, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing sciences, medical laboratory sciences and health technology. The university is positioned to address the substantial regional shortage of locally-trained medical professionals in Zamfara State and adjacent areas, where health workforce density has historically been among the lowest in Nigeria.
History
Federal University of Health Science and Technology, Tsafe was established by the Federal Government as part of the 2023-era expansion of federal specialised universities focused on medical and health sciences education. The Tsafe location in Zamfara State was selected for available land and to address the acute regional shortage of locally-trained medical professionals โ north-western Nigeria having among the lowest health workforce densities in the country. The institution received NUC and Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) approvals to commence MBBS training. Clinical training is conducted through affiliated teaching hospitals in Zamfara State and adjacent states.

Campus & Infrastructure
Federal University of Health Science and Technology operates from a campus in Tsafe, in Tsafe Local Government Area, central Zamfara State. The campus features basic medical sciences buildings, anatomy and physiology laboratories, the university library, lecture theatres, student halls of residence and administrative facilities. Clinical training is conducted through affiliated teaching hospitals. Tsafe is connected by road to Gusau (about 1.5 hours north-east) and Sokoto (3 hours north-west). Air access is via Sir Sadiq Abubakar III International Airport Sokoto with regular flights to Abuja and Lagos.
