History

Christopher University was established by the Christopher Kolade Centre for Research in Leadership and Governance as a private university focused on quality higher education. The institution was named in honour of Dr Christopher Kolade, CON — the renowned Nigerian broadcaster, former Director-General of NTA, Pro-Chancellor of Lagos Business School and respected national elder. The Mowe location, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway corridor in Ogun State, was selected for accessibility from both Lagos and Ibadan. The institution received NUC approval and admitted its inaugural cohort, with founding faculties configured to address tertiary education demand. Through subsequent years the university has continued to develop academic capacity and infrastructure.

Christopher University operates from a campus in Mowe, in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, southern Ogun State, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway corridor. The campus features academic infrastructure including faculty buildings, research laboratories, the university library, lecture theatres, student halls of residence and sports facilities. Mowe is connected by road to Lagos (about 1 hour south-west) and Ibadan (1.5 hours north-east) via the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Air access is via Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos with daily international and domestic flights.
