About Atiba University Oyo
Atiba University, Oyo (AUE) is a private university located in Oyo town, Oyo State, in south-western Nigeria. The institution operates faculties spanning the natural and applied sciences, environmental sciences, management sciences, humanities and basic medical sciences. The university is named in honour of Alaafin Atiba, the 19th-century Alaafin of Oyo who established the new Oyo town following the collapse of the Old Oyo Empire. Atiba serves Oyo State and the broader South-West, complementing the federal University of Ibadan, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Emmanuel Alayande University of Education Oyo and First Technical University Ibadan (Tech-U) in providing diversified tertiary education access.
History
Atiba University, Oyo was established as a private university in Oyo town to provide quality higher education for Oyo indigenes and students from across south-western Nigeria. The institution was named in honour of Alaafin Atiba Atobatele, the Alaafin of Oyo (1837-1859) who founded the new Oyo town (Ago d\'Oyo) following the destruction of Old Oyo by Fulani jihad forces. Atiba University received NUC approval and admitted its inaugural cohort, with founding faculties configured to address tertiary education demand in the region. The institution has continued to develop academic capacity and infrastructure, building reputation as one of Nigeria\'s newer established private universities.

Campus & Infrastructure
Atiba University operates from a campus in Oyo town, Oyo State, with academic infrastructure including faculty buildings, research laboratories, the university library, lecture theatres, student halls of residence and sports facilities. Oyo town is connected by road to Ibadan (about 1 hour south), Ogbomoso (1 hour north) and Ilorin (1.5 hours north). Air access is via Ibadan Airport with regular flights to Lagos and Abuja, and the larger Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos accessible for international flights.
