History
Al-Hikmah University was established in 2005 by the Abdul-Raheem Oladimeji Islamic Foundation, founded by Dr Abdul-Raheem Oladimeji, an Ilorin businessman and Islamic philanthropist. The Ilorin location, the Kwara State capital and a historic Yoruba Muslim emirate, was selected for available land and the foundation\'s Ilorin heritage. Al-Hikmah admitted its first students in 2005 with founding colleges in humanities, management sciences and the sciences. The institution distinguished itself as one of Nigeria\'s early Islamic-heritage private universities, offering a curriculum that includes Islamic studies alongside conventional academic disciplines, while admitting students of all faiths. Through the 2000s and 2010s Al-Hikmah expanded faculty offerings, adding the College of Law (which has built strong reputation), the College of Education and the College of Natural and Applied Sciences.
