⚠ Result-checking scams Real result checks happen only on the official portals (efacility.jamb.gov.ng, waecdirect.org, mynecoexams.com, nabtebnigeria.org). Anyone charging extra for "fast result" is scamming you.
No result upgrade service exists WAEC, NECO and JAMB have all officially confirmed that no one can "upgrade" your result. Anyone offering an upgrade is a scammer. Report them to the exam body's fraud hotline.

How to check JAMB UTME results

JAMB releases UTME results in batches, usually within 24–72 hours of each exam date. The official channels are three:

  1. SMS: text UTMERESULT to 55019 from the phone number you registered with. Charge is ₦50.
  2. Online via the official portal: log in to efacility.jamb.gov.ng with your JAMB profile email and password. The result appears under "Check UTME Result".
  3. Print the result slip: on the same portal, click "Print Result Slip". The slip is what most institutions request during Post-UTME registration. Costs around ₦1,500 if you print directly from the portal.

Result release timing varies — JAMB does not pre-announce specific dates. If your result is not yet available 7 days after your exam date, log in to the portal to check for any "withheld" status. Withheld results are usually released after JAMB completes biometric verification or investigates specific exam centres.

Checking WAEC and NECO results online

WAEC SSCE results are typically released 6–8 weeks after the exam. The official process is:

  1. Buy a WAEC Result Checker PIN (called a "scratch card") for ₦3,500 from a WAEC-approved vendor, your school, or the official WAEC online portal.
  2. Visit waecdirect.org (the official WAEC result portal).
  3. Enter your exam number, exam year, exam type (May/June or November/December), PIN, and serial number.
  4. Submit. Your result appears immediately.

NECO follows the same pattern at results.neco.gov.ng. NECO scratch cards cost ₦1,500–₦3,000 depending on vendor.

NABTEB results are checked at eworld.nabteb.gov.ng using your registration number and scratch card PIN.

What to never do

Three rules will protect you from result-related scams:

  • Never buy a result checker PIN from a Telegram, WhatsApp or Instagram seller. Buy only from the official portal, your school, or known retail vendors. The savings from informal channels are not worth the risk of a non-functional PIN.
  • Never pay for a "result upgrade". Every WAEC, NECO and JAMB official has stated that no upgrade service exists. Anyone offering one is a scammer.
  • Never share your JAMB profile password. JAMB has revoked admissions after detecting fraudulent changes from compromised profiles.

Result printing and certificate collection

The result slip you print online is sufficient for most admission purposes — institutions verify the result independently through the exam body\'s database. The official paper certificate is collected later.

  • JAMB UTME: there is no paper certificate; the result slip is the document.
  • WAEC SSCE: the original certificate is collected from your secondary school 12–24 months after results release. Schools issue them in batches once they arrive from WAEC.
  • NECO SSCE: similar pattern to WAEC. Certificates arrive at schools 12–18 months after results release.
  • NABTEB: certificates are collected from NABTEB zonal offices or your school.

When results are typically released

Approximate release windows for the major Nigerian exams:

  • JAMB UTME: 24–72 hours after each exam date. Some batches take up to 7 days.
  • WAEC SSCE (May/June): 6–8 weeks after the last exam, typically mid-August.
  • WAEC SSCE (November/December): 8–10 weeks after the last exam, typically January/February.
  • NECO SSCE (June/July): 8–10 weeks after the last exam, typically September/October.
  • NABTEB: 8–12 weeks after the last exam.

Disputing a wrong score

Result errors do happen. Your right to challenge is formal but the process is slow.

For WAEC and NECO, you can request a "remark" of a specific subject within 6 months of release. The fee is ₦5,000–₦10,000 per subject. The board pulls your script from archive and re-marks it. Adjustments are made if errors are found. Resolution takes 3–4 months.

For JAMB UTME, you can submit a complaint via the official portal within 30 days of result release. JAMB will only review if there is a specific allegation of system error — disputes based on "I felt I did better" are not entertained.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does WAEC result release take?

My JAMB result is missing — what should I do?
First, log in to the JAMB e-Facility portal and check the result section. If the result is marked "withheld" or "under investigation", JAMB will eventually release it once verification completes.
