Overview

The Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) is the statutory regulatory body for advertising practice in Nigeria, established by Decree 55 of 1988. APCON registers Advertising Practitioners (full members), Associate Members, and accredits advertising agencies. APCON also reviews and approves advertising content to ensure compliance with Nigerian advertising standards before publication. The certification fits within the broader landscape of Nigerian professional qualifications and is best pursued with clear career objectives in mind, as both the time investment and financial commitment are substantial. Ongoing professional development beyond the certification — through continuing education, industry conferences and professional networking — is essential for maximising the long-term value of the credential.
